Allegra grew up in Phoenix, AZ and received their B.A. in Chemistry in 2010 from Scripps College. As an undergraduate, Allegra performed research with Profs. Nancy S. B. Williams and Kathleen Purvis-Roberts at Scripps College and Prof. Alan S. Goldman at Rutgers University. In 2015, Allegra earned their Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley for work conducted with Profs. T. Don Tilley and Robert G. Bergman developing methods to enhance organometallic reaction rates by addition of Lewis acids. From 2016–2018, Allegra was a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology with Prof. Robert H. Grubbs, studying polymer photonic crystals. In August 2018, Allegra joined Chapman University as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry. |
